Setting Document Output Formats

SteelBrick CPQ generates quote documents in PDF or Word format. A user setting prompts the user for document output format when the user clicks Generate Document.

Before you being using this feature, check your HTML template content records for any embedded images. Add the following to the end of the URL that references these images: "&contentType=xxx" where xxx is replaced by the MIME Type field contents on the document detail page of this image.

EXAMPLE

This is the URL for an externally available image in the Documents tab:

https://c.na7.content.force.com/servlet/servlet.ImageServer?id=015A00000000ibU3&oid=00DA000000Yrhj&l...

Because the image as a MIME Type of "image/png", the URL must be changed to:

https://c.na7.content.force.com/servlet/servlet.ImageServer?id=015A00000000ibU3&oid=00DA000000Yrhj&l...

TO IMPLEMENT THIS FUNCTION:

  1. Add the Allow Output Format Change checkbox field to your user detail page or list views.
  2. Select this checkbox for users when you want to be prompted for document type when generating a quote document.

Tip: Add an indicator to your Quote Documents related lists that displays the type of file. Edit the Opportunity or Quote page layout and add the Output Format field to the Quote Documents related list.

Caution: Quote document preview still displays in the same window. The output selection only affects generated documents that you save or save and email.

This post could use some better formatting so we can actually see the entire URL without having to view the source of the html page.
